Spaghetti Recipe (Classic and Easy)

Ingredients:

  1. 12 ounces (340g) dried spaghetti
  2. 2 tablespoons olive oil
  3. 3 garlic cloves, minced
  4. 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  5. 1 can (14 oz/400g) diced tomatoes or tomato puree
  6. 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  7. 1 teaspoon dried basil
  8. 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  9. ½ teaspoon red chili flakes (optional, for spice)
  10. Salt and black pepper to taste
  11. ½ cup (50g) grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for garnish)
  12. Fresh parsley or basil (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

Cook the Spaghetti:

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add spaghetti and cook according to the package instructions (about 8-10 minutes for al dente). Drain and set aside.

Prepare the Sauce:

Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add garlic and onion, and sauté until softened (about 2-3 minutes).

Add Tomatoes and Spices:

Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, and chili flakes (if using). Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Season the Sauce:

Add salt and black pepper to taste. If the sauce is too thick, add a small splash of pasta water to thin it out.

Combine Pasta and Sauce:

Toss the cooked spaghetti into the sauce, mixing well to coat each strand.

Serve:

Serve hot with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley or basil on top.
