Spaghetti Recipe (Classic and Easy)
Ingredients:
- 12 ounces (340g) dried spaghetti
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 can (14 oz/400g) diced tomatoes or tomato puree
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon red chili flakes (optional, for spice)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- ½ cup (50g) grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for garnish)
- Fresh parsley or basil (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
Cook the Spaghetti:
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add spaghetti and cook according to the package instructions (about 8-10 minutes for al dente). Drain and set aside.
Prepare the Sauce:
Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add garlic and onion, and sauté until softened (about 2-3 minutes).
Add Tomatoes and Spices:
Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, and chili flakes (if using). Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Season the Sauce:
Add salt and black pepper to taste. If the sauce is too thick, add a small splash of pasta water to thin it out.
Combine Pasta and Sauce:
Toss the cooked spaghetti into the sauce, mixing well to coat each strand.
Serve:
Serve hot with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley or basil on top.
