Two-Pound Chocolate Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
Dry Ingredients:
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 1 ¾ cups (350g) granulated sugar
- ¾ cup (65g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients:
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup (240ml) whole milk
- ½ cup (120ml) vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup (240ml) boiling water (add last)
- RECIPE
Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans or a large rectangular pan.
Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla.
Combine Wet and Dry: Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until smooth. Slowly pour in the boiling water while stirring. The batter will be thin, but that’s normal.
Bake: Divide the batter evenly into the prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool and Frost: Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Frost with your favorite chocolate frosting.
